Skyline Trail* (Rainier)

Elevation Gain: 1400 ft

Highest Elevation:6800 ft

This is one of a very few trails that offers wonderful vista virtually every step of the way.  I could only think of two other trails with similar virtuosity – Glacier’s Hidden Lake (but it’s more of a short walk/nature trail) and the famed Highline to Granite Park trail.  Downside of trails like these is the throngs it attracts.  On this gorgeous Autumn day, the day after Paradise Inn closed for the year, the trail was uncrowded.

From Paradise VC, the trail wastes no time taking off vertically.

After 2+ miles of challenge climbing, Panorama Point was attained. Mt. St. Helen in the distant.
