Location: NCNP, near Mazama, WA
Distance: 13+ miles – via Cutthroat Lake TH, side trip to the Lake (1/2 mile RT), and Granite Pass on PCT (2+ miles RT).
Elevation: 2000+ feet
Highest Point: 6800+ feet
Time: 5.75 hours
There are 2 approaches to Cutthroat Pass, and I chose Cutthroat Lake TH simply for its proximity to Mazama. Rainy Pass TH offers less climbing, but no lakeside view.
Arrived at the Pass which intersects with Pacific Crest Trail, a 2600 mile trail starting at Mexico border ending at Canada about 50 miles from this point. I ventured about one mile north on PCT.
A quick 5+ miles descent concluded this magnificent hike.
