I wrote the following report on WTA. Colchuk was supreme, Stuart was nice, but the trails to either were nondescript. I can’t say they were worth the long drive from Spokane.
Nice drive on Icicle Road with fall color on full display. The 3+ miles dirt road to TH was decent.
No issues with either trails. A lot more people, backpackers especially (likely headed to the legendary Enchantment Lakes), on Colchuck Trail.
The trail to Lake Stuart is quite a bit easier. The main difference b/w the two lakes are their colors – turquoise for Colchuck, dark green for Stuart. Both surrounded by impressive mountain peaks.
